“This is very personal to Devin and I as we’ve have seen first hand the devastating effects of sickle cell on family members and we are choosing to use our platform to help families in similar situations,” said Jason. “To be able to impact someone’s life far beyond sports has been one of the best accomplishments we could have imagined.”

In 2013, Jason and Devin McCourty partnered with New Jersey based non-profit, Embrace Kids Foundation to launch their Tackle Sickle Cell campaign. Since then, they’ve hosted multiple blood drives and fundraising events in their home state of New Jersey as well as the cities where the twins play for their respective NFL teams.

Jason McCourty has been a constant presence in the community over his 8 year NFL career. In recent years, Jason was nominated for the NFL’s Walter Payton Award, the Art Rooney Award and the Byron “Whizzer” White Award (the highest honor the NFL Players Association can bestow on a player).

Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited blood disorder, impacting nearly 100,000 Americans. This past June 19th, in honor or World Sickle Cell Day, Embrace Kids Foundation announced that The McCourty Twins Tackle Sickle Cell Campaign would be covering the full cost of college books for all Embrace Kids Scholarship recipients that have sickle cell!
