McCourty Twins Honored at Yogi Berra Museum Awards

NFL stars and twin brothers, Jason & Devin McCourty were recipients of the Community Service Award at the Inaugural Yogi Berra Museum Awards. The event took place at the Plaza Hotel on May 12th, what would have been the baseball legend’s 92nd birthday. It was a packed house as the museum honored individuals, specifically former and current athletes, who embody the qualities that made Yogi Berra an American icon. Former NFL Quarterback Boomer Esiason and actor Robert Wuhl co-hosted the event.

The McCourty Twins have been very active in the community since entering the NFL. Starting back in 2013, Jason & Devin McCourty partnered with New Jersey based non-profit, Embrace Kids Foundation to launch the Tackle Sickle Cell Campaign. Over the last four years, they’ve hosted multiple blood drives and fundraising events in their home state of New Jersey as well as the two cities where the twins have played for their respective NFL teams, Boston and Nashville. Earlier this week, Jason McCourty signed with the Cleveland Browns after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans. The McCourty Twins Tackle Sickle Cell Campaign aims to educate the public, increase blood donors, and raise money & awareness for the fight against sickle cell disease.

They also held Tackle Sickle Cell fundraising events individually with Devin hosting a Casino Night on October 24th in Boston and Jason hosting a Comedy Night in Nashville on November 14th. The next McCourty Twins Tackle Sickle Cell Event is their annual 5K Run/Walk coming up on June 10, 2017. Click here to register now!

In May of 2016 the Twins were both inducted into The Rutgers University Hall of Distinguished Alumni, the highest honor the University can bestow upon an alumni. Created in 1987, the Hall of Distinguished Alumni recognizes alumni who, through their superlative achievements in professional and civic life, have brought honor to themselves and to the University.
