Lunar Sports Group secured the services of Frank Lampard, a famous English soccer player who now plays in the MLS for the New York City FC, to drop by a series New York City Bars to meet with fans. The visits came on October 5th and 7th, 2016 as a reward for the four bars being named one of New York City’s best soccer bars in a contest put on by the Daily Mail and Heineken. It allowed people to vote on bars throughout the city and selected the four that received the most votes as winners.
“We’ve put a lot of work in to being a good soccer bar,” said Nick Murphy, owner of Bar 43. “We put in the work so it’s nice but not that surprising to be voted one of the best.”
Lampard is best known for his career with Chelsea Football Club in London, where he played for 13 seasons, during which he was named Chelsea’s player of the year three times. Prior to joining Chelsea, he played for West Ham United for four years. Lampard was also capped 106 times for England.
The four winning bars were Mr. Dennehey’s, Longbow Pub & Pantry, 43 Bar & Grill and Pig & Whistle. At each location, Lampard participated in a Question & Answer session, signed autographs and took pictures with fans.
