Twin brothers and NFL defensive backs, Jason & Devin McCourty are hosting the 2017 McCourty Twins Tackle Sickle Cell 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 10, 2017. at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ.
The Tackle Sickle Cell Campaign, which is a partnership between the McCourty twins and Embrace Kids Foundation, aims to educate the public, increase blood donors and raise money & awareness for the fight against sickle cell disease.
On June 10th, Jason & Devin will be joined by fellow members of the NFL & Rutgers football community. Liberty State Park is a beautiful setting that offers incredible views of the Statue of Liberty & Lower Manhattan. The Run/Walk is for all ages and will be followed by a celebration including music, food, and fun at the park.

The twins have had a number of memorable achievements on the field, but it’s their work off the field and in the community that they are most proud of. This is the 5th year of the McCourty Twins Tackle Sickle Cell Campaign which has been an unprecedented success. They hold annual blood drives and fundraisers in New Jersey and have spread the event to the city’s where they play for their NFL teams, Nashville and Boston.
In May of 2016 the Twins were both inducted into The Rutgers University Hall of Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honor the university can bestow upon an alumnus/a. Created in 1987, the Hall of Distinguished Alumni recognizes alumni who, through their superlative achievements in professional and civic life, have brought honor to themselves and to the university.
The twins were both been nominated in 2015 and 2016 for the Byron “Whizzer” White Award, the highest honor the NFL Players Association can bestow on a player. The award recognizes players who go above and beyond to perform community service in their team cities and hometowns.
In addition, they’ve also received some individual accolades. Devin, a safety for the Super Bowl Champion Patriots, has been nominated for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2014 & 2015 and he received the 2015 Champion Award from Boston Children’s Hospital for his dedication to supporting kids and tackling sickle cell disease. Meanwhile Jason, a cornerback for the Tennessee Titans was nominated for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2014 and was named a finalist for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award in 2015.
